Distin: Moyes similar to Fergie

Everton defender Sylvain Distin believes David Moyes has the same hands-on approach to managing that made Sir Alex Ferguson such a success at Manchester United.

Moyes will succeed Ferguson at Old Trafford when the latter retires at the end of the current Premier League season.

Having played under the future United and current Toffees boss for the last four campaigns, Distin has had an opportunity to observe Moyes' work at close quarters, and has noted parallels between the pair.

"There are aspects of their characters which are similar," the former Paris Saint-Germain defender, who has also played for Newcastle United, Manchester City and Portsmouth, told L'Equipe.

"They have the same thoroughness, the same demands. Moyes is 200% committed to the club. He does everything from training sessions to video sessions, whereas in the other clubs I've been at, it's been more the assistant coaches doing that.

"He's there permanently. He puts you under pressure from the first game to the last. Even if there's nothing to play for, you know you're going to have to run."

Moyes' last two games in charge of Everton are West Ham at home on Sunday, before a trip to Chelsea on the final day of the season.
