Mbia denies QPR transfer tweets

QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia has insisted he did not use Twitter to try to orchestrate a move away from Loftus Road, claiming his account on the social media site was hacked. • Blog: New hope at QPR Mbia, 26, arrived at QPR from Marseille last summer but his first season in English football ended with relegation from the Premier League. The Cameroon international is one of a host of players to have been linked with an exit at the end of the season and he appeared to signal his intent by tweeting Joey Barton, who has been on a season-long loan at Mbia's former club Marseille. He wrote: "@Joey7Barton: Do you want to rechange (sic) your seat with me?" The tweet was the removed, only to be reposted to Barton once more.

However, Mbia has strenuously denied that he was responsible for the tweets, telling the Guardian: "I do not know how this happened. Someone must have got hold of my login and password because I did not write these things. "This was not me. I did not write the tweets, and I have made people at the club aware of that. I saw the messages this morning and spoke with the club about them, but now I see there are more appearing in my name.'' QPR head of media and communications Ian Taylor said: "The club is aware of tweets from the official twitter account of #QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia today "Stephane Mbia has informed the club he is not responsible for these tweets. The club will continue to investigate and deal with the issue internally.'' Information from the Press Association was used in this report
