Cahill scores for New York in MLS

A late goal by Socceroos star Tim Cahill and a penalty save gave New York a 1-0 win at Columbus in Sunday's MLS action.

Cahill headed a rebound in the 80th minute after Columbus Crew goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum made the initial save off a shot by Jonathan Steele.

His third goal of the season came seven minutes after New York goalie Luis Robles went to his right to stop Federico Higuain's penalty, giving the Red Bulls their third-straight win.

It was the first time in 13 games that Columbus had lost at home.

In other matches, San Jose and Montreal played out a 2-2 draw, as did Philadelphia and Seattle, while Real Salt Lake finished 2-0 victors over Vancouver and Colorado pipped Toronto 1-0.
