Real Madrid job would tempt Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti says he would find it hard to pass up the chance of managing Real Madrid having turned down the opportunity once before.

Jose Mourinho is now widely expected to leave Madrid having not delivered the much hoped for decima tenth European Cup during three seasons at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Ancelotti is seen as Blancos president Florentino Perez's preferred choice to take over, with the Italian proving at AC Milan that he could handle big egos in the dressing-room (and boardroom) while delivering Champions League success.

The current Paris Saint-Germain boss, 53, told Italian TV host Simona Ventura that he had previously chosen Premier League side Chelsea over Madrid when he left Milan in 2009.

"I do not know [about Madrid], in the past there was a moment when I was close, and then I went to Chelsea," Ancelotti said. "Nobody knows the future, but I feel good at PSG and could stay here for a long time."

PSG's Qatari president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was reportedly close to firing Ancelotti last autumn, but is now keen to keep him after the team took control of Ligue 1's title race and ran Barcelona close in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ancelotti said his future remained up in the air, and suggested he would say yes should Perez come calling again.

"Now I want to win Ligue 1 and celebrate the title," Ancelotti said. "But it is difficult to say no to Real Madrid, although I live in Paris."
