Australia's Kruse set to join Leverkusen
Socceroos star Robbie Kruse is set to play Champions League football next season as the Australia international revealed on Thursday he has agreed to join Bayer Leverkusen from their Bundesliga rivals Fortuna Duesseldorf.
"It's true, we're agreed terms and it's all about the details now," said the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.
"I love the Duesseldorf club and the fans, but I want to develop myself as a player."
Leverkusen are currently third in the Bundesliga, which carries an automatic Champions League place, with three games left.
Leverkusen CEO Wolfgang Holzhaeuser has confirmed Bayer are interested in signing Kruse, who has made 23 appearances for the Socceroos, but said the deal had not yet been finalised.
Kruse has scored four Bundesliga goals this season, with six assists, and could leave relegation-threatened Duesseldorf for 1.5 million euros ($A1.94 million).
He joined Fortuna from A-League side Melbourne Victory in July 2011.
