PSG supporters plea for Ancelotti stay

Desperate Paris Saint-Germain supporters have written an open letter to coach Carlo Ancelotti begging the Italian not to leave the club this summer.

Reports in France and Spain in the past week indicate that Ancelotti will depart the Parc des Princes at the end of the season, possibly to replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, and the man himself has done little to douse the speculation.

That has led to concerns among PSG fans, who are delighted with the job being done by the coach with the team on the brink of winning a first league title since 1994.

And a group of supporters have written a letter to Ancelotti on the website psgcommunity.fr, admitting that they viewed his initial arrival in place of club icon Antoine Kombouare with scepticism, but are now urging him to stay put.

"The results that followed your arrival were not exceptional but you managed to take PSG into the Champions League, something which hadn't happened in almost ten years," read the letter. "We have grown to appreciate your sense of humour in press conferences and the fact that you quickly learned French.

"Mr Ancelotti, we will not be able to forget that you were on the bench when PSG won the title that the club has been waiting 19 years for," the letter added. "We are convinced that next year can be a historic one for PSG but you are the best person to build on the job done over the past 18 months."

Supporters should not have to wait too much longer to find out Ancelotti's plans, with the Italian admitting last weekend that he would say more once PSG have wrapped up the Ligue 1 title.

That could happen this weekend, if Marseille slip up at home to Bastia and the capital club manage to finish the job when they entertain Valenciennes on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Mourinho and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger are the two main targets for PSG's Qatari owners.

However, the chances of seeing either in the Parc des Princes dugout next season appear slimmer by the day, with Mourinho openly courting a return to England and Wenger admitting that he intends to honour his contract at the Emirates Stadium, which runs until the end of next season.
