Zaha named Championship POTY

Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha has been named the Championship Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers Association, edging Blackpool's Tom Ince to the award.

Manchester United-bound Zaha, 20, has lifted Crystal Palace into a play-off position and scored six goals in 45 appearances for the Eagles this season.

It has been a standout season for the youngster who made his full England debut against Sweden late last year and secured a five-and-a-half year deal with United.

Zaha's Palace team-mates Glenn Murray and Yannick Bolasie were nominated in the team of the year, while newly-promoted Cardiff gained two nominations through Mark Hudson and Peter Whittingham.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Wayne Bridge, who is on loan from Manchester City, earned his place in the back line, while Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel was the preferred choice in goals.

PFA Championship Team of the Year:

Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester)

Defenders: Kieran Trippier (Burnley), Wes Morgan (Leicester), Mark Hudson (Cardiff), Wayne Bridge (Brighton)

Midfielders: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace), Thomas Ince (Blackpool)

Forwards:Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace), Matej Vydra (Watford)
