Everton wins to stay in hunt for Europe
Everton moved within three points of a Europa League qualification spot after beating Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
South African midfielder Steven Pienaar scored in the 16th minute to lift Everton to 59 points. Tottenham drew 2-2 with Wigan on Saturday to stay fifth in the automatic Europa League berth with 62 points but having played one match less.
"It was nice intricate play and a good finish," Everton manager David Moyes said. "I thought Steven knitted us together a little bit and he scored a good goal as well."
Chelsea is also on 62 points in the final Champions League spot but with a game in hand on Spurs and two on Everton.
It was Fulham's 20th straight league loss at Goodison Park, and the visitors rarely looked interested in a lackluster match containing few scoring opportunities as they are in 11th place and safe from any relegation fears.
Stoke 1, Norwich 0
Charlie Adam ended a five-month scoring drought to give Stoke a win and move the team closer to securing another season in the Premier League.
Adam netted just after the break to give Stoke back-to-back victories for the first time since December, following last weekend's 2-0 win at QPR. The win puts Stoke on 40 points, eight points outside the relegation zone. Norwich, though, is now six points outside the drop zone and has a vital game now next Saturday against Aston Villa.
Stoke's goal came in the 46th as a long ball pumped forward from Huth found the head of Peter Crouch for a knockdown into the area, and Adam stole in for a simple left-foot shot underneath Mark Bunn from seven yards.
West Brom 3, Southampton 0
West Bromwich Albion consolidated its mid-table position with a win over Southampton on Saturday in a Premier League match that saw three players sent off.
Gaston Ramirez and Fortune were then sent off before Shane Long completed the win with a long-range strike in the 77th, and Southampton finished with nine men after Danny Fox was red-carded for a two-footed challenge on Steven Reid.
