SPL strugglers Dundee have announced that interim manager John Brown has been given the job on a full-time basis.
Dundee remain bottom of the table, ten points adrift of safety, and a win for St Mirren at Hibernian on Saturday will condemn the Dee to an immediate return to the second tier of Scottish football.
However, Brown's record of three wins and only one defeat from his seven games in temporary charge since inheriting the reins from Barry Smith in February has been enough to convince the club that he can turn their fortunes around next term.
"I had some great times here as a player and it is fantastic that I now have the chance to manage what I believe is one of Scotland's top clubs," The 51-year-old said after agreeing a two-year contract at Dens Park.
"The supporters have been magnificent to me in that we need to be playing at the top level of Scottish football and we are all going to work together to ensure that our future is a bright one."
