Klopp quashes Lewandowski exit talk

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has dismissed claims made by Robert Lewandowski’s agent that the striker is set to the leave the club in the summer.

Lewandowski's four-goal haul stunned the media and fans alike

Speculation regarding the future of the sought-after Dortmund hitman has reached new heights following his four-goal match-winning performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

And speaking on Polish TV on Thursday, one of Lewandowski’s representatives suggested that the former Lech Poznan player would be on his way out of the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

"Robert Lewandowski plays for the big club Borussia Dortmund and Robert will play for an even bigger club," agent Cezary Kucharsky said. "The Dortmund officials know where he will be playing."

While Kurcharsky’s partner, the former Dynamo Dresden player Maik Barthel, told Der Spiegel: "We are in agreement with a club and have the right to change this summer. All the demands of Dortmund are met."

With Lewandowski’s contract due to expire in 2014, this summer represents the last chance for Dortmund to cash in on the Bundesliga’s top scorer.

However, according to Klopp, the Champions League semi-finalists have no plans of letting their player leave just yet.

"My state of knowledge today is Robert will be here next season," Klopp said. "We have always acted fair. Why an agent says on TV a player will definitely make a switch – those are so many weird thoughts. I am not able to relate to that."

Klopp stated that no club as of yet has approached Dortmund with an offer for Lewandowski, before adding: "And if the agent has one [an offer], he should rather discuss it with us than on Polish TV."

The Dortmund boss, though, did concede that there were contingency plans in place for when Lewandowski does eventually leave the club.

"We have eyed some very good players, who would love to play for us. And all of that without agents talking on TV,” he said. “Either we have the players or we have a lot of money enabling us to buy good players."

Dortmund have previously been linked with Hamburg’s Heung-Min Son as well as Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
