AVB: United won't coast at Arsenal

Andre Villas-Boas has said he does not expect Manchester United to slacken off at Arsenal on Sunday, despite wrapping up the Premier League title on Monday.

Tottenham manager Villas-Boas said he felt his side had the momentum to secure a place in the top four after coming from a goal down to beat Manchester City 3-1 on Sunday.

"I think it's important that Arsenal play Man United. Every three points are important but, on a weekend where a team that fights for the same objectives as you is playing the champions, it's important to get the three points," he said.

"[Team selection] is something he [Alex Ferguson] has to decide. Different managers react differently to situations like that. They could probably use their remaining games to rotate the squad.

"Some would like to get as many points as they can. They [United] are competitive, have won so much, so any team that they put out is a strong side."

He said the dramatic win over City - secured by three goals in the final 15 minutes - had been "inspirational", adding: "Hopefully, with the motivation we had from the game, we can get the result we want and get momentum for the rest of the season.

"I think [there is a determination in the squad]. It's visible. I think all of them really want to get in to the Champions League next season, and most of them are playing with that ambition and playing with the experience of last year [when Spurs missed out]."

Villas-Boas said he did not necessarily believe that Chelsea's fixture congestion was a disadvantage to them, saying they would be buoyed by getting to the last four of the Europa League.

"I would prefer to play in it, but we are out," he said. "We had a week to prepare for Man City. I am not sure if it's an advantage. We are just adapting our style.

"It's something they [Chelsea] have to cope with. They have a big, big squad. For me it's an advantage when you are at the door of a European final.

"They have done well to make the semi-finals. We would prefer to play the same amount of games."
