Balotelli to return for Milan

AC Milan will welcome back Mario Balotelli for the Serie A game against Catania this weekend as they look to rejuvenate their push for Champions League football next season.

• Paul: Mistake costs Milan

Balotelli, 22, has missed third-placed Milan's last two games because of suspension - a spell in which they only managed one point and one goal – leading to suggestions that they have become over-reliant on his services.

Since his January arrival from Manchester City only five other players have hit the target for the Rossoneri while leading goalscorer Stephan El Shaarawy's form has dried up. The young Italian had scored 15 times before Balotelli's signing and only once since.

Meanwhile, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has called on the club's supporters to rally behind the team and help them achieve their aim.

"We need to give gas to our players and our coach to help them qualify for the Champions League for the 11th time in 12 years," Galliani said.

"Once we do that, hopefully we will have a team that is integrated and hopefully next season we can fight for the Scudetto."
