Tevez hints at new City deal

Carlos Tevez says he is happy to see out the remainder of his Manchester City contract and may even consider extending his stay at Eastlands.

Carlos Tevez is thought to be the league's highest paid player on £198,000-a-week
Carlos Tevez has scored 17 goals in 41 games for Man City this season

Tevez’s current deal expires next year and the striker has been strongly linked with the Eastlands exit door ever since his refusal to warm-up in a Champions League game last season.

Potential moves to Corinthians and Milan collapsed soon after that incident, but Tevez won his place back and helped fire City to title glory in 2011-12, before maintaining his position as an integral figure this term, scoring 17 goals in 41 games.

Just over a year ago, it seemed unthinkable that Tevez would honour his contract, but the Argentina striker insists he is more settled now.

“I have a year left and I will respect that. I’ll think about whether to sign a new one,” Tevez is quoted as saying in the Sun.

“It’s not the same as last season when I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I’m going through a different time. The club is treating me really well and that’s so important for me.”

England internationals Gareth Barry and Joleon Lescott are also entering the final years of their respective City contracts, with the latter tipped to leave the club this summer.
