Blues probe Benayoun abuse claims

Yossi Benayoun is confident Chelsea will deal with supporters who have reportedly targeted him with anti-Semitic chants in recent weeks.

Benayoun was again taunted by his own club's fans when he came off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. It is claimed in the Daily Mirror that chants on that occasion were not of a racial nature, but Benayoun has taken a formal complaint to Blues hierachy about anti-semitic content in the past.

Chelsea are said to have launched an investigation into the ongoing issue, while the Israel international took to Twitter to reveal his frustration over fans "crossing the limit" since he came out in support of under-fire striker Fernando Torres.

"The booing came from some small part of the Chelsea fans that have been doing it in the last few weeks since I did an interview about Torres," Benayoun tweeted. "But I don't really get bothered about it... people need to understand what they read.

"There is (sic) some other issues that the club is taking care (sic) and try to handle them in the right way... as sometimes people are crossing the limit. And I'm sure the club will sort it. What's important for me is to do the best for the team till the end of the season."

Benayoun's comments come as referee Mark Clattenburg prepares to return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since he was embroiled in a racism storm involving John Obi Mikel. He will take charge of Chelsea's game against Swansea next Sunday.
