Conte eyes quick end to Scudetto race

Juventus secured a vital victory in their search for a second consecutive Serie A title

Juventus boss Antonio Conte has called on his side to swiftly round up the Serie A title, but he remains wary of the potential to drop points in Sunday's derby against Torino.

• Blog: Juve-Milan matches destined to be decided by penalties

Arturo Vidal's 57th minute penalty sealed a 1-0 win over Milan on Sunday, ensuring Juve maintained their 11-point lead over second-placed Napoli.

The result means the Bianconeri need just four points to defend their title and, depending on Napoli's result this weekend, the Scudetto could be sealed with victory over local rivals Torino.

Conte praised his side following the win over Milan, insisting Juve's gap above the Italian giants is a testament to their successful season.

"I don't think there's any doubt about the penalty," Conte said. "Milan played a great game, they were coming off the back of a good run of results and beat us in the reverse fixture. It's really satisfying to be 18 points ahead of them.

"Napoli's win put a bit of pressure on us but we managed to win again and take a potentially decisive step. I don't want to think about when or against whom the decisive victory could come, I'm only interested in closing off the Scudetto race.

"After that, we can celebrate and relax following a very demanding season. We know all about Torino's desire to beat us and about the hidden dangers that await us in Sunday's derby."

Midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is hoping to win his first professional league title with Juve and believes victory over Milan was the perfect springboard to finish the season on top.

"The penalty changed the game. It was a tough contest, especially in the first half because we didn't manage to play our usual game," Asamoah said. "We got better after the restart and managed to break the deadlock and record a crucial victory.

"There are still five games left and we want to finish the championship season on a high. For me it would be amazing to win the Scudetto, it would be my first and something that's very important to me."
