Souness: Suarez is embarrassing

Former Liverpool captain and manager Graeme Souness branded Luis Suarez "embarrassing" for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic and accused him of doing huge damage to the club's reputation.

And Souness, a triple European Cup winner in his playing days at Anfield, believes it will be very difficult for the Uruguayan to stay at Anfield now.

Suarez sunk his teeth into Chelsea defender Ivanovic in the 66th minute of Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield and Souness, who managed Liverpool from 1991 to 1994, compared him to an infant for his actions.

"Embarrassing," he told Sky Sports. "He's making it very difficult for him to stay at Liverpool. Last chance saloon. He's putting the good name of this club in jeopardy. People will be talking about this for a long, long time and it'll show Liverpool in a very bad light."

During his time at Ajax, Suarez was given a seven-match suspension for biting an opponent, PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal, and his controversial two years at Anfield have included an eight-game suspension when he was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Souness added: "This is not the first time he's bitten someone in a football match. This puts him in the last chance saloon as a Liverpool player. He's risking everything this great football club stands for. That's what children do in a pram.

"He must be on the borderline of doing something mad or crazy every time he's out there. For all the weeks for that to happen... He looked to take a chunk out of him. That's scary. Liverpool will suffer as these pictures will be beamed around the world."

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp added: "What he did today was indefensible. Beyond belief. How many more chances can you give him? I'd be surprised if he plays again this season."
