Prandelli: Balo must 'learn to shut up'

Italy's national coach Cesare Prandelli has warned Mario Balotelli he must "learn to shut up" as the AC Milan striker serves a two-match ban.

• Galliani: Allegri to stay at Milan
• Blog: Tactical stubborness

Balotelli, 22, earned a one-match suspension after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season against Fiorentina last week and picked up a further two matches after abusing the fourth official during that match.

The ban was reduced by one match on appeal, meaning Balotelli will return to action for next week's Serie A match against Catania.

But Prandelli believes Balotelli, who has become accustomed to scandals both on and off the pitch, must develop self control to avoid tarnishing his career.

"Balotelli will always be provoked," Prandelli told Rai Sport. "He has to learn to shut up and not react.

"A large part of the game is staying calm, and in this respect Mario can definitely improve. In the future he will be provoked more and more and he needs to learn to manage himself."
