Alves wants Villa and Sanchez to stay

Dani Alves has said Barcelona should add to their squad in the summer, not let important players leave.

Dani Alves wants Barca to augment their squad

In recent months, speculation has suggested that Barca could offload attackers David Villa and Alexis Sanchez, with Villa reportedly unhappy with his limited game time earlier in the season and Sanchez having fallen out of favour with elements of the Camp Nou crowd.

Mundo Deportivo claimed this week that a Juventus delegation had travelled to Barcelona to negotiate deals for both players, while Spain international Villa had reportedly been close to joining Arsenal during January’s transfer window.

Asked for his thoughts on the potential exits, Brazil international full-back Alves said everyone at the Catalan club would be happy if both players stayed next season.

"If it were up to me, I would bring in more strength and not sell what we have because we are very happy with them,” he said.

“They are great professionals, and that is what counts. Then, it comes down to performances."
