Heynckes compares Messi to past icons

MUNICH -- Add Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes to those who consider Lionel Messi to be superhuman.

"He is a phenomenon. He is in the league of Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona, Pele and Johan Cruyff," Heynckes said Wednedsay. "Anyone who scores 50 goals in a season is extraterrestrial."

After watching Messi score four goals for Barcelona against his team in a Champions League match in April 2010, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "He's a PlayStation."

Bayern hosts Barcelona and Messi in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Tuesday.
