Chelsea's Luiz accepts Aguero apology

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has used social media to reveal that he has contacted Chelsea defender David Luiz to apologise for his reckless challenge on him in the FA Cup semi-final. • Blog: Football redeems itself Luiz used the same medium to accept the Argentine's apology and praised his "demonstration of character". Aguero caught Luiz with an ugly tackle during City's 2-1 victory on Sunday, infuriating the Brazil international, who immediately urged the the 24-year-old to apologise. Taking to Twitter, Aguero did just that and said the tackle had been a rash "impulse". "I've contacted @DavidLuiz_4 and apologized for what happened during the match. It was an impulse reaction that shouldn't have happened," he wrote.

Luiz reponded, also through Twitter, by writing that Aguero had shown the character of a "great man". "Thank you @aguerosergiokun for a demonstration of character. We get to know great man and athletes this way," he wrote. Aguero escaped any sanctions after the match, with the FA confirming that it would not follow up on the incident.
