Richards, Rodwell in contention for City

Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell could make their Manchester City comebacks against Wigan on Wednesday, but David Silva is unlikely to be risked.

Spain international Silva sat out Sunday's FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea with a hamstring injury, and is not likely to return until they visit Tottenham at the weekend.

Right-back Richards has not played since October because of a knee injury, while summer signing Rodwell has been out for six weeks with a hamstring problem.

Both have featured for the club's Elite Development Squad and could be on the bench for the FA Cup final dress-rehearsal.

City's first-team coach David Platt said: "Sunday was a bit too early for David. I think if we had pushed we probably could have got him ready for tomorrow [Wednesday] evening, but it would be a risk.

"We will probably be pragmatic and give him a full week's training under his belt [before Tottenham].

"If the [Chelsea] game had been the last game of the season, we might have taken a risk but it would have been a big risk. If he does play tomorrow, the [Tottenham game at the] weekend becomes a bigger risk."

Richards has been limited to four first-team games this season because of injuries, but could appear for the first time in six months.

Platt added: "Micah has been training with the team for ten days or two weeks and he has played a couple of EDS games.

"He is available for selection. Whether he would get through 90 minutes I don't know, but I would hazard a guess he will be involved in the squad.

"Jack will be another one that could be in contention to be in the squad. I don't think Jack could play 90 minutes. Squad selection is one thing, team selection is another."
