Stramaccioni given Moratti backing

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has reassured Andrea Stramaccioni his future at the club is secure following speculation about his future.

• Whittaker: Two more injuries

The Nerazzurri are unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League after suffering a 2-0 Serie A defeat to Cagliari on Sunday, their fourth loss in five games, saw them drop to seventh place.

Stramaccioni, 36, has battled against a series of injuries to key players in a troubled campaign for the club and now faces a selection dilemma for the Coppa Italia semi-final against Roma on Wednesday evening after midfielder Walter Gargano and defender Yuto Nagatomo were ruled out.

But Moratti has rallied behind his young manager and told Gazzetta dello Sport that he has no plans to make a change at the top this summer.

"I can't do anything else but support Stramaccioni, based on all the difficulties we've had to deal with this season," Moratti said.

"We are going through a difficult and quite dramatic season. In terms of the injuries, I hope we can come up with a solution, but it will be difficult. But a little bit of invention and good luck could see us through."
