Hamburg insist Son is going nowhere

Hamburg director of sport Frank Arnesen has warned potential suitors off Heung-Min Son and is confident that the club will tie up a new deal for the forward.

Hamburg are desperate to keep hold of Heung-Min Son

Son, 20, who scored a brace in Hamburg's 2-1 Bundesliga win over Mainz on Saturday, has been in impressive form this season, hitting 11 goals in 28 appearances.

The South Korea international, who has just over a year left to run on his current contract, has reportedly attracted interest from a number of clubs around Europe, but Arnesen is confident that the player’s future lies at the Imtech Arena.

“Son, with his 20 years, is one of the players we would really like to keep hold of,'' he told NDR television. “We are willing to push ourselves to our pain barrier for him. He still has a year to go on his contract and we haven't had any offers from other clubs.

"We are at a good stage with him and his contract extension so I am positive that we will extend with him for the long term. We have to ensure that we extend his contract as quickly as possible so that he can be settled.''

Son signed for Hamburg from FC Seoul in 2008 and has gone on to score 19 goals in 68 games for the club since then.
