Andy Carroll hopeful of West Ham deal

Andy Carroll has given his broadest hint yet that he is ready to sign a permanent contract to stay at West Ham.

Andy Carroll celebrates after levelling for West Ham
Carroll continued his recent goalscoring run with a valuable goal in Saturday's draw with Fulham

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers made it clear last week that he has not changed his opinion on the future of the striker, who cost the Reds £35m when they signed him from Newcastle in January 2011.

Rodgers confirmed his club would be keen to recoup a sizeable transfer fee when they look to off-load the England international next summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed he is keen to secure Carroll's services on a long term basis and it seems that the striker, who scored a valuable goal in the 1-1 draw at Southampton on Saturday, is ready to sign on at Upton Park.

When asked whether he would stay at West Ham, his response was encouraging for the London club eager to extend his stay in East London.

"This is obviously a great club and I do not see why not," Carroll said. "It has been great here and every minute has been fantastic. The lads have been great, the gaffer has been great and the fans are unbelievable."

Carroll has scored just six goals for West Ham during his season-long loan move from Liverpool, but Hammers officials have made it clear that they are ready to agree a club record transfer fee to sign him next summer.

"Andy is very important for us," Allardyce said. "I always said once he got match-fit he would put the goals in the back of the net and show he is a good scorer as well as a top player and a strong target man.

"We have to sit down at the end of the season and make decisions on all of the out-of-contract and loan players, including Andy. If it could be done it would be very nice, but there’s a long way to go between now and then."
