De Boer not ready for City switch

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has welcomed reports linking him to Manchester City but suggested he would not be willing to leave Amsterdam at this stage.

De Boer has led Ajax to two Eredivisie titles since taking charge of the club in 2010, and has been touted as a potential successor to Roberto Mancini at the Etihad Stadium.

However, although he has indicated an interest in leading City, De Boer does not appear to be ready to move away from the Netherlands.

"Manchester City are something I want to do, yes, but it is difficult for me to move my family abroad at the moment," he said in the Sunday Mirror. "I have to consider others, not just myself."

Ajax director Marc Overmars said: "Am I worried? Not for losing Frank now, but City will be a big competitor for his signature in the near future."

It remains unclear whether Mancini will still be in charge at City next season, but midfielder David Silva has offered his backing to the Italian.

"I don't know why Mancini doesn't get credit, but the players certainly appreciate him," the Spain star said in the Sunday Mirror. "We are with him and together we are a team.

"The players give him all the credit for being part of the success we have achieved. That success has been done together. All managers are different. Some criticise players more publicly, while others do it inside the club. For me, it is each to their own."

He added: "We are building a team and a club and we will win many, many more titles."
