Moses: Chelsea focused on Europa

Chelsea winger Victor Moses is fully focused on the UEFA Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan and not on the FA Cup with Manchester City on Sunday

Chelsea winger Victor Moses says the club's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City is not hindering the Blues' attempts to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League.

• Blog: Chelsea braced for nerve-wracking climax

Chelsea travel to face Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan with one foot in the competition's last-four after chalking up a 3-1 victory in the first-leg at Stamford Bridge.

But with a blockbuster date with City at Wembley looming on the horizon, questions have been raised about the squad's focus ahead of the clash in Russia.

However, Moses has moved to quash any theories regarding Chelsea mindset, claiming the Blues are taking the final fixtures of the season one game at a time.

"We'll focus on the (Rubin Kazan)," Moses said. "It's the Europa League, it's a massive game for us. We just want to put the City game behind us at the moment. That doesn't come until Sunday.

"Rubin Kazan are a great team, so we're here to do our best. We're very focused.

"It's not going to be an easy test for us, but we're looking forward to it.

"If we can score an early goal that would be great for us.

"Hopefully we'll do our best to try to win the game and get into the semi-final."

And it is a mindset that starts at the top, with interim Chelsea coach Rafael Benitez confident his players are focused only on one mission – qualifying for the semi-finals of the Europa League.

"All my players know how important this competition is and they will be really pleased if we go through and will go to the final and if we can win the final," Benitez said.

"We have a lot of respect for Rubin Kazan. We know that it's a good team.

"We know the team, so they can do well and then maybe we have to react.

"I have confidence we can do well. I don't see too many surprises.

"If they play well, fair enough, but not because we are surprised."

Chelsea head into the match with both left-sided defenders Ashley Cole (hamstring) and Ryan Bertrand (illness) expected to miss the clash.

Either experienced Portuguese Paulo Ferreira and 18-year-old Dutchman Nathan Ake are expected to fill the void, with the teenager the front-runner for the spot..
