Bundesliga: Bayern held by Cologne

Corinthians grab top spot

Fluminense stayed top of Group 8 in the Copa Libertadores after playing out a 0-0 draw away to Gremio on Wednesday

Reigning champions Corinthians had no trouble securing top spot in Copa Libertadores Group Five with a 3-0 win over Bolivia's San Jose.

Man of the match Romarinho put Corinthians ahead in the 25th minute with a header from a corner and San Jose defender Carlos Tordoya was shown red seconds before half-time.

That helped Corinthians consolidate victory in the second period, with Paolo Guerrero chesting down the ball before making it 2-0 and Edenilson adding a third in injury time.

Defender Paulo Andre told "We cannot decide which team we prefer to play or not to play against.

"We played good football, we were able to profit from some gaps and the red card helped us a lot. We are now looking forward to a good tie in the next stage."

Corinthians ended the group stage on top of the standings on 13 points, with a better goal difference than Mexican champions Tijuana.

Antonio Mohamed's Tijuana beat Millonarios of Colombia 1-0 thanks to Fidel Martinez-Tenorio's goal in the third minute of injury time, a right-foot strike after a Richard Ruiz cross.

Millonarios finished bottom of the group with only one win in their six games.

Real Garcilaso of Peru enjoyed a 5-1 rout of already-eliminated Paraguayan giants Cerro Porteno, leaving them on the verge of qualification from Group Six.

Oscar Gamarra put Real ahead with an eighth-minute header after a free-kick and though Roberto Nanni equalised four minutes later, Mauricio Montes restored the hosts' lead nine minutes before half-time after being set up by Victor Ferreira.

Ferreira made it 3-1 with a header in the 73rd minute, Fabio Ramos scored from a free-kick three minutes later and Gamarra netted a long-range shot after a defensive mistake in the last minute.

A draw against Santa Fe in Colombia next week would take Real into the knock-out phase while Colombia's Tolima, who lie three points behind, must beat Cerro Porteno in Paraguay and hope Real lose in Colombia.

The night's final match saw Brazilian sides Gremio and Fluminense play out a goalless draw in Porto Alegre.

Fluminense had a man advantage for the whole second half after Gremio defender Cris was harshly sent off seconds before half-time, but could not find a breakthrough and remain only a point ahead at the group summit on eight points.

Gremio and Chilean side Huachipato both have seven and Venezuela's Caracas are a further point back going into the final round of games.
