Hummels would consider Barca move

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has suggested he would be open to joining Barcelona.

Mats Hummels says he would listen to an offer from Barcelona

Hummels, 24, has been heavily linked with Barca in the Catalan press in recent months, with Mundo Deportivo claiming that a deal for a summer move was close to completion.

The Germany international told Sport Bild that he and his father Hermann, who also acts as his agent, generally say no to any offers, however, it would be hard to turn down an approach from the blaugrana.

"My father and I reject 99.9% of the teams, from all over the world, when they come to us,” Hummels said. “But Barcelona is one of two or three clubs who I would consider maybe signing for.”

The cultured defender, who is currently tied to Dortmund until June 2017, said he would take his time about making any decision regarding his future and was not unhappy at his current club.

"I would study it to see if it made sense to leave,” he said. “I am not saying I want to go.”

The Catalan side are expected to sign a new centre-half this summer, with club captain Carles Puyol showing increasing signs of wear and tear, last year’s defensive reinforcement Alex Song having yet to impress and homegrown prospect Marc Bartra as yet unproven at the highest level.

Lyon’s Dejan Lovren, Chelsea’s David Luiz, Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and Roma’s Marquinhos have also reportedly come under consideration by Barca’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.

Zubizarreta told Canal Plus after Barca's 5-0 La Liga win over Real Mallorca last Saturday that Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos was “not on our list” of potential targets.
