Arteta: Communication key for Gunners

Mikel Arteta believes improved communication among the Arsenal players has been the key to their recent revival.

• Mangan: Arsenal find some depth

Saturday's 2-1 away win at West Browmich Albion has moved the Gunners into pole position to secure a top four finish in the Premier League for a 16th successive season, with Arteta suggesting a unity has grown within the Arsenal squad since their valiant Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich last month.

"We have improved our communication since the Bayern game, but there is still further room to improve too," Arteta told Arsenal.com.

"You talk whenever you think it is necessary. There's no point just talking for the sake of talking - you only open your mouth to say something important or relevant. If not, it is better to keep your mouth shut!

"Communication can help the team to unlock its potential, it's one of the things that can be improved. From the things we can do as a group, I think this is one of the important factors."

Arteta went on to confirm he has played a key role in improving the communication within the Arsenal team in the last month, with manager Arsene Wenger encouraging his players to get themselves on the winning run that looks set to secure their return to the Champions League for next season.

"His way of managing the group is very simple and if it was not that way he would be able to be here for 16 years, that's for sure," added the Spaniard of the Arsenal manager.

Arsenal face games against Norwich, Everton and Fulham before north London rivals Tottenham resume their Premier League programme and if the Gunners win all three games, they will open up a seven point lead on Spurs before Andre Villas-Boas's men return to action on Sunday week against in-form Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
