Williamson sacked as Uganda coach

Uganda have sacked head coach Bobby Williamson with the national team bottom of their World Cup qualifying group.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) terminated Williamson's contract after Uganda had taken two points from qualifying matches against Senegal and Angola.

In a statement, the organisation said: "FUFA hereby informs the public that a notice of termination of contract has been given to the Cranes' head coach Robert 'Bobby' Williamson.

"The Emergency Committee of FUFA took the decision of notice in compliance with the contract of employment and other relevant labour laws of Uganda.

"The technical committee will convene later next week to discuss more details that will be made public at an appropriate time if found necessary.''

Williamson, 51, a former Kilmarnock, Hibernian and Plymouth manager, took charge of Uganda in 2008 but failed to qualify for the African Nations Cup during his stint at the helm.
