Pepe doubtful vs. Galatasaray

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho confirmed Monday that Pepe is doubtful for Tuesday's Champions League return leg quarterfinal vs. Galatasaray due to a quadricep injury Pepe suffered during Monday's practice.

Raul Albiol is the likely substitute, Mourinho said during the UEFA news conference.

"He (Pepe) had a muscular problem during the match vs. Levante. It is minimal, but a small problem that makes him doubtful until we decide tomorrow (Tuesday)," Mourinho said. "If he doesn't play, Albiol will and the trust that I have in him is the same because we have very good central defenders. (Raphael) Varane is playing at the top level and the rest have great international experience. Whoever plays has my trust and the trust of his teammates."

Mourinho said he advised his players not to take the second-leg match for granted.

"We have seen qualifiers in which a team wins 3-0 at home and loses the second match 3-0," Mourinho said. "We have to focus on winning. If we lose 2-0 or 3-1, I will not return home happy."
