Anzhi Makhachkala left-back Andrei Yeshchenko looks set to be out action for most of the year after tearing knee ligaments in a Russian Premier League game at the weekend, his club confirmed on Tuesday.
Yeshchenko, 29, has been ruled out for up to eight months after picking up the injury during Anzhi's 4-0 loss at FK Krasnodar on Sunday. Team-mate Oleg Shatov pulled a hamstring in the same match and will be sidelined for up to three weeks.
Yeshchenko and Shatov are the latest to join the club's lengthy injury list which includes several leading players, such as captain Samuel Eto'o, Willian and Yuri Zhirkov.
Sunday's defeat leaves Anzhi third in the Russian Premier League, ten points off leaders CSKA Moscow with eight games remaining.
