Fulham have announced that club captain Brede Hangeland has signed a new contract at Craven Cottage.
Hangeland's previous terms were due to expire in the summer and his agent suggested this week it was looking likely he could leave the Cottagers.
However, the 31-year-old, who signed for Fulham from FC Copenhagen in 2008, has agreed a new two-year deal with the club, with the option of a further year.
The Norway international has made 185 Premier League starts for Fulham, proving to be a key player in the heart of their defence.
Manager Martin Jol will be boosted by the news of his commitment as his 10th-placed team look to achieve a top-half finish with nine matches of the season remaining.
