Scolari wants side to play more in Brazil

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari believes the national team should be playing more games in their own country, despite it currently being out of their own hands.

The Selecao have played more and more of their fixtures abroad in recent years due to an agreement with a foreign company that organises their games. Since 2003, they have played 152 matches, yet only 25 of those were played in Brazil.

This increase of fixtures taking place around the globe has led to feeling among Brazil fans that the team does not represent the country anymore.

With the Selecao hosting the World Cup next year, the agreement complicates matters further, as the games abroad prevent the side from getting used to the kind of conditions that they will experience next summer.

"The pressure is not less or higher in Brazil. What happens is that we play away so much because the company that has the rights to promote these friendlies with Brazil prefers us to play away," Scolari said in a press conference.

"We would prefer to play more in Brazil rather than abroad but we have this agreement to now play in Brazil."

Brazil take on Russia on Monday night at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium.
