Sneijder a doubt for Romania game

Wesley Sneijder is expected to miss the Netherlands' World Cup qualifier against Romania on Tuesday after limping out of their 3-0 victory against Estonia on Friday night.

Coach Louis van Gaal told reporters he is not expecting the Galatasaray player to recover sufficiently in time to make the game.

"We will to wait and see but if you are substituted after half an hour, I don`t think you`ve got a big chance of playing,'" Van Gaal said.

Despite the blow of potentially losing Sneijder, the Netherlands still claimed an important victory which maintained their 100% record so far. They have won all five of their games so far and are five points clear of the second- and third-placed sides Hungary and Romania.

"We tried a passing game in the first half, although some of our play was not good and our midfielders did not pass well enough or did not pass at all," Van Gaal added.

"We set that straight at half-time and then you are lucky as coach when you open the scoring so early in the second half. From that moment on it became easier for us as they could not defend so tightly anymore."
