Coventry hearing postponed until Tuesday

A High Court hearing into the rent owed by League One Coventry to the owners of the Ricoh Arena has been postponed until next week.

Stadium operators Arena Coventry Limited said the Sky Blues owed them £1.3 million, and had been due to apply for an administrator to take over the running of the club from owners Sisu.

Lawyers for Arena Coventry were concerned about a statement made by the club earlier this week and wanted more time to consider their position. The hearing will now take place on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Coventry announced that part of the club is in administration.

Coventry City Football Ltd went into administration on Thursday, with the announcement coming hours before a High Court hearing on the stadium.

The club said Coventry City Football Club (Holdings) will continue as its trading arm. ACL said it believed the stadium lease was signed with Coventry City Football Ltd, but stressed that the Sky Blues would not be locked out.

An ACL spokesman told the Coventry Telegraph: "It is totally untrue ACL will block the club from the Ricoh."

A club statement said Coventry City Football Ltd was "merely a property subsidiary which owns no material assets and has no employees, on or off the pitch".

It added: "It is important to stress that the football club itself is not under threat."
