Madjid Bougherra has admitted he would turn down a move to Marseille in favour of returning to English football.
Bougherra, 30, has been at Qatari club Lekhwiya since winning the last of three successive Scottish Premier League titles at Rangers in 2011.
The French-born Algeria international was linked with a switch to Marseille during the January transfer window, but told RMC radio station he would prefer a move to the other side of the Channel.
"I got wind of [Marseille's interest] at the start of the year, but I haven't heard anything recently. I'm focusing on getting my best form back," the centre-back, who played for Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic, before going to Glasgow in 2008, said.
"We'll see, but if I come back to Europe, my priority is England. I'm not closing the door on anyone."
