On-loan West Bromwich Albion striker Romelu Lukaku admits he does not know where he will be playing his football come next season.
Lukaku, 19, has been one of the revelations of an impressive campaign for West Brom after joining on a season-long loan from parent club Chelsea last summer.
With the striker having won plaudits for his performances at The Hawthorns, head coach Steve Clarke is keen to keep him for another season. However, there is talk that the Blues also want to keep hold of the talisman for themselves.
“I’m just waiting until the end of the season, just performing for West Brom at the moment and then we will see what will happen,” Lukaku told Sky Sports. “I don’t know what is happening at the moment and I don’t want to talk about it at all.”
One player on Chelsea’s books who is also unsure of exactly where he will be next season is Frank Lampard. Lampard, 34, is out of contract in the summer and the Blues have so far refused to offer the player a new deal, despite his impressive displays this term.
Lukaku says he is pleased to see the England international doing so well this season and has called on his parent club to offer the midfielder a new deal.
“I’m very happy for him because he was one of the guys that helped me a lot, he was the guy who really introduced me to a way of training that was a lot of harder than the way of others,” Lukaku said. “I am really grateful to him and I’m also very happy for him [that he is doing well].
“It’s very important [that he stays with Chelsea] he’s one of the key players there so hopefully he will get a [contract] extension.”
Lukaku is currently away on international duty with Belgium, who face two World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia in the coming days.
An international team-mate who has also made an impact on the Premier League this season is Christian Benteke, and Lukaku has tipped him to move on to a bigger club in the near future.
“I think hopefully he will make a big move to a big club so that he can improve his game as well,” Lukaku said. “And it will also be important for the national team - like I want to go back to my parent club and do well for them one day in the future - but still we are doing well and hopefully we can continue.”
