Dolan wants Reading stay

Reading caretaker manager Eamonn Dolan does not know how long he will remain in charge of the club, but says he is sure he wants to stay at the Madejski Stadium.

• Blog: Landslide avoided

Dolan, head of the Royals' academy, was placed in charge of first-team affairs following the sacking of Brian McDermott last week.

He took his Reading side to Old Trafford on Saturday where they were unlucky to lose 1-0, while up next on the fixture list is a trip to Arsenal on March 30.

Although Dolan does not know if he will still be around to lead the team to the Emirates Stadium, he is desperate to remain at the club in some sort of role.

"I don't know about Arsenal, we haven't discussed it and wouldn't," Dolan said on readingchronicle.co.uk.

"Anton [Zingarevich, the Reading owner] has been fantastic with me and let me get on with it. I talked to him the first couple of days and he popped me a text before [the United match]. They are thinking and talking and they will be pleased with the way things have gone [in the build-up to the United game].

"It's been a really difficult week - for us to put in a performance like that considering the players' relationship to Brian is a credit to them and a credit to all the staff.

"I want to stay at Reading Football Club definitely as some sort of manager, academy or whatever."

Reading currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of safety.
