Holloway fined £2,000 by FA

The Football Association has announced that Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has been fined £2,000 after admitting a charge of improper conduct for his behaviour during the game with Leeds United last weekend.

Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who made an obscene gesture towards Leeds fans, has admitted the same charge but requested a personal hearing.

Holloway was hit with the charge on Tuesday after he confronted both Leeds forward Luke Varney and match officials at the end of his side's 2-2 draw with the Yorkshire club on Saturday.

The Palace boss was infuriated by the decision of referee Dean Whitehouse not to send off either Varney or his team-mate Stephen Warnock during the match. Holloway admits his actions were out of order, while adding that he will have a word with Zaha regarding his behaviour.

"I won't be appealing the charge. I was shouting - that was wrong and I must be a role model. I will move on, as will Wilf [Zaha]," Holloway said. "We are a well-run football club and we will deal with the issue concerning Wilf in the right way. I don't expect him to get a ban.

"There were incidents in the game that were not dealt with in the right way. That is now in the past and we have to get on with football."

Meanwhile, Palace's Championship clash with Millwall has been moved from April 13 to April 30 due to the Lions' progress into the FA Cup semi-finals.
