Adriano set for new Barca deal
Adriano Correia is close to signing a new contract extension at Barcelona, according to the player's agent.
Utility-man Adriano, 28, joined Barca from Sevilla in the summer of 2010 for €9.5 million. He has since become an important squad member, scoring six goals in 26 games this season, while also appearing as a substitute during Tuesday's 4-0 Champions League win over AC Milan at the Camp Nou.
The Brazil international's representative, Paulo Affonso, told Catalan radio show 'Esports en Xarxa' on Thursday evening that both sides were keen to extend his current deal with the club, which ends in June 2014.
"We are very near to reaching an agreement, but we do not have it yet," Affonso said. "Barcelona are making a very big effort. Barca want him to extend, and Adriano wants that too."
There were a couple of minor points to iron out, Affonso revealed, but he expected a positive resolution within the next few weeks.
"Adriano likes it here and wants to stay," he said. "The renewal is on a good path, in April I will return to Barcelona and I am sure we will continue looking for an agreement as soon as possible. There are a few different points which we must keep discussing, but the tone is very good. The directors in the talks have received me very well."
