Japanese import Shinji Ono has been ruled out of Western Sydney's A-League match against Melbourne Heart, with coach Tony Popovic not willing to risk further injury leading into the finals.
The midfielder was replaced at halftime of last week's 2-1 win over Wellington with hamstring tightness.
He was a notable absentee at Sydney airport on Friday when the Wanderers departed for Saturday's game against Melbourne at AAMI Park.
"Shinji's not made it for the game," Popovic told AAP at Sydney airport.
"He's progressing very well from last week but we feel we don't want to risk him at this stage."
In the two clubs' most recent clash, Western Sydney toppled the Heart 1-0 at Parramatta Stadium, despite losing defender Jerome Polenz in the 13th minute to a red card.
Western Sydney currently sit on top of the A-League table, guaranteeing them a home semi-final in the playoffs.
