Guingamp hire ex-PSG coach Kombouare

Doubts over joint Leverkusen management

Bayer Leverkusen joint-management team of Sami Hyypia and Sascha Lewandowski have voiced doubts about their future at the Bundesliga club.

Former Liverpool captain Sami Hyypia, 39, and ex-Leverkusen youth academy coach Lewandowski, 41, were installed as Leverkusen's management duo in April 2012. The arrangement is unique in German football, with both coaches sharing coaching and management duties.

After Leverkusen's 0-1 defeat at Mainz, Hyypia was invited as a guest of the renowned German TV show Aktuelles Sport Studio. The show, broadcast on channel ZDF, also aired a short interview with Lewandowski.

"It is not easy to live that day in day out," Lewandowski said about the partnership. "It might be a good short-term solution. But in the long run it also makes things more difficult."

Hyypia then added: "The arrangement is not easy for either of us. We must compromise a lot, which does make it a bit more difficult. I need to discuss things with Sascha first before making a decision. Usually we go into the office to discuss things. We come up with an opinion to which we stick 100%."

On Tuesday, Bayer general manager, Rudi Voller told Bild: "Right now, it is a good solution. But there will come a day when both will go their own way. This is certainly not a solution build to last five years."

And Leverkusen chief Wolfgang Holzhauser added: "We will see what all this will come to."

Next weekend, Bayer Leverkusen take on Bayern Munich at home. Leverkusen are still the only team to have beaten Bayern in the Bundesliga this season. Leverkusen currently sit third in the table, one point behind Dortmund and six points ahead of fourth-placed Schalke.
