Koeman unaware of Man City link

Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman says he knows nothing of reported interest in him from Manchester City.

• City still keeping tabs on Abdulrahman

Koeman has transformed Feyenoord's fortunes since arriving at De Kuip in 2011, with the Dutch giants finishing second in his first season having been 10th the previous year. They are currently a point off top spot in the Eredivisie.

The former Valencia and Ajax manager's recent achievements haven't gone unnoticed, with reigning Premier League champions City linked with his services.

City sporting director Txiki Begiristain played with Koeman at Barcelona, where they won the European Cup together in 1992, and is known to admire his old team-mate.

Current Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini is believed to be at risk of being axed should he fail to deliver any silverware this season but Koeman, whose glittering player career saw him win the 1988 European Championship with Netherlands as well as a European Cup with both PSV Eindhovern and Barca, insists he is unaware of any interest from City.

"Players who develop into internationals are in the spotlight, and it is logical that people look at trainers also," he told Voetbal International.

"But I have nothing else to say, because I simply do not know about [City's] reported interest."

Koeman signed a new contract with Feyenoord until 2014 in December.
