Moratti: I still have faith in Stramaccioni

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has insisted he still has faith in Andrea Stramaccioni but indicated the coach's future may be uncertain if he fails to lead the team into the Champions League.

• Blog: Inter crisis deepens

Inter have struggled for form in recent weeks, and the recent defeats to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League and Bologna in Serie A have led to questions over Stramaccioni's position.

However, asked if he still had faith in the coach, Moratti told the press: "Yes."

Inter director of sport Marco Branca said prior to the 1-0 loss at home to Bologna that he expected that both he and Stramaccioni would still be at the club next season, but Moratti offered less than total support to the pair.

"I heard [what Branca said], and then he said it would be up to the president to decide," he said, according to the club's official website. "I agree with him."

Asked if that meant he had not yet made up his mind, he added: "We think about these things every day. Personally I'd be happy if things were to stay as they are, only with different results."

Inter are currently fifth, trailing third-placed AC Milan by four points, and qualification for next season's Champions League is far from assured. It has been suggested that Stramaccioni would lose his job should he fail to guide the club into the top three, but Moratti was keeping his cards close to his chest.

"We'll see if and when that happens," he said.

Moratti also said the Bologna defeat was "a big disappointment", adding: "We're angry, but we need to calmly weigh things up and try to rebuild morale."
