Mourinho future doesn't worry Karanka

Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka has admitted he does not care about the speculation surrounding the future of Jose Mourinho.

Madrid have suffered an in-different season under Mourinho, Los Blancos 16 points off the La Liga lead but through to the final of the Spanish Cup.

And the Madrid boss led the squad into the semi-finals of the Champions League after downing Manchester United in controversial circumstances.

But despite the recent cup successes, Mourinho's long-term position at the club has been under the spot-light, with rumours circulating this could be the Portuguese's final season at the Bernabeu.

However, the speculation has not undermined the club's ambition to win more silverware, with Karanka telling a press conference he, and Mourinho, are only worried about leading Madrid to glory.

"I only want to work on the next game," Karanka said. "I haven't asked and I don't care what he will do.

"The coach is here, he is not thinking of anything other than Real Madrid.

"Celta Vigo will be tough. We will have to play well if we want to win. We have to be physically and mentally ready."

But despite striving to continue the club's winning mentality, Karanka admitted the club's defence of its league title was over and that a number of players would be rested for coming battles.

"The league is almost impossible for us now, so we're just fighting for second place," he said.

"We'll play a strong team tomorrow, but it's also true that the likes of (Raphael) Varane, (Fabio) Coentrao, (Sergio) Ramos – the lads that have played every game – deserve a rest."
