Swansea want full-time De Guzman deal

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup hopes a deal can soon be agreed to bring midfielder Jonathan de Guzman to the Liberty Stadium on a permanent basis.

De Guzman, 25, has starred for the Welsh club since arriving from Villarreal on loan in the summer, and scored two goals as they lifted the Capital One Cup with victory over Bradford at Wembley last month.

Laudrup said he was keen to make the Netherlands international’s switch full-time but added: "It's always difficult to say what's going to happen.

"A lot of clubs are thinking about the end of the season... they have a lot of important things to think about.

"Jonathan is playing very well, and he's scoring goals. But he is happy here and I know he wants to stay."

Swansea take on West Brom at the Hawthorns this weekend, with both teams having enjoyed superb Premier League seasons.

With both in the top ten of the table on 40 points, Laudrup said he was looking forward to a clash “between two of the surprise packages of the season".

He said: "Both teams are seven points clear of tenth place, and that is really positive.

"We always like to have the ball, but they are very good on the counter attack so we have to be careful. But we have to go there and play the way we always do and look to get a positive result."
