Lloris stresses need for concentration

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has warned his team-mates that their hopes of a Champions League return could slip away unless they retain their focus following Sunday's win against Arsenal.

• Blog: Spurs too good for Arsenal

Lloris, 26, was in impressive form as Spurs moved seven points clear of their north London rivals with a 2-1 win at White Hart Lane.

The France captain, however, is not getting too carried away as he believes there will still be plenty of twists in the final two months of the season.

"The season is not finished," he said. "We don't know what can happen so we have to keep going, not look at the other teams and be focused on ourselves.

"The Arsenal game was important for confidence and to keep our supporters with us. Now we need them for the other important games. There are ten games to go so we have to keep concentration and be focused on the end of the season.

"Of course it's better to be in this position than Arsenal, but we cannot lose sight of our target. The most important thing is to be in the Champions League next season and I think we have to keep our ambition."

As well as riding high in the Premier League, Spurs also have a Europa League last 16 first leg with Inter Milan to look forward to on Thursday, and Lloris sees no reason why they cannot go all the way in the competition.

"Of course, there is the Premier League but also the Europa League, we can do something and why not win a trophy for the club? It would be great not just for this season, but also for the future," he said.

Tottenham can widen the gap with Arsenal to ten points with a win against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, but Lloris is expecting a tough test against the side that beat Wigan 4-0 last weekend.

"Liverpool are playing maybe the best football in the Premier League at this moment and what we did against Arsenal has to be forgotten now because this is another big test," Lloris said.

"It will be a very difficult game. Look at the way they played at Wigan. You can see this is a team with confidence and scoring goals. It will be very tough."
