Inter fight back, Totti makes history

Inter Milan came from two goals down at half-time to roar back to a 3-2 win at Catania that sees them overtake Lazio in fourth place on goal difference.

• Rodrigo keeps Inter in the chase
• Napoli 1-1 Juventus
• AC Milan 3-0 Lazio

With the Sicilians pushing hard for a Europa League place, Andrea Stramaccioni's men appeared all too happy to oblige their hosts as Catania took a quick two-goal lead through Gonzalo Bergessio and Giovanni Marchese.

That prompted a desperate reshuffle and a gritty Inter side steadily forced their way back into the game as Rodrigo Palacio scored twice from the bench - his first following Ricky Alvarez's 52nd-minute header.

Inter were not prepared to concede fourth place and Palacio struck at the end to keep the former European champions within a point of the Champions League positions.

Francesco Totti took the headlines as he became Serie A's second all-time top scorer in Roma's 3-1 win over Genoa.

Totti struck the opener from the penalty spot to net his 225th league goal - putting him on a par with Gunnar Nordahl - after a foul on Daniele De Rossi. However, Genoa were level before half-time as Nicolas Burdisso took down Marco Borriello in the box, and Borriello slotted home the spot-kick himself.

Roma went ahead in the second half as 18-year-old Romagnoli got his head to a corner and scored on his full debut, and Totti would have the final say as he exchanged passes with Simone Perrotta for the midfielder to smash home from six yards and seal the points in the final few minutes after Juraj Kucka was dismissed following an angry exchange with Totti.

Substitute Marcelo Larrondo headed a late winner at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to boost Fiorentina's Champions League hopes in a 2-1 win at the expense of Chievo.

La Viola, who went down 2-1 at Bologna on Tuesday, started on the front foot and took an early lead through Manuel Pasqual's fine free-kick. Chievo substitute Isaac Cofie got the visitors back on level terms seven minutes before half-time, but Larrondo - a 65th-minute replacement for Stevan Jovetic - had the last word with the decisive goal 12 minutes from time.

Sampdoria climbed into the top half of the table and above opponents Parma as Mauro Icardi decided a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The Gialloblu were left to rue the officials' decision to disallow Andrea Coda's first-half goal but Roberto Donadoni's men were always second-best as they drifted towards a fifth defeat in six games.

Samp had been concerned with Icardi's lack of goals in recent weeks but the Argentinian ended his two-game drought by converting an easy finish following a poor mistake from Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.

Bologna took a significant step towards securing their future by ending Cagliari's seven-game unbeaten run at the Renato Dall'Ara with a 3-0 win.

Saphir Taider's early opener proved enough to earn Stefano Pioli's men back-to-back victories for the first time this season, following Tuesday's win over Fiorentina, with Alessandro Diamanti making the points safe midway through the second half.

Francesco Pisano's red card followed a careless tackle and saw the Sardinians reduced to 10 men before substitute Cristian Pasquato added gloss to the scoreline as Bologna opened an 11-point gap on the bottom three.

Pescara's recent woes continued after Antonio Di Natale's 150th league goal was enough to earn the three points and a 1-0 win for Udinese.

Serie A's second-bottom club headed into the encounter at the Stadio Adriatico-Giovanni Cornacchia in awful form after losing six of their last seven matches and sadly for them, that poor form continued as Luis Muriel's cross from the right was converted by Di Natale from close range.

Giacomo Bonaventura scored in either half to move Atalanta nine points clear of the Serie A drop zone after a 2-0 win over Siena.

Bonaventura opened the scoring with a cracking strike in the opening minutes and sealed the win midway through the second half with another fine effort. Siena remain in the final relegation spot, five points adrift of safety.

Palermo's struggles continued after they picked up only a point from their trip to Torino, who had the better chances in a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

Rolando Bianchi hit the post early on before two late chances were wasted as the Granata were denied victory in front of their own fans.
