Moratti ponders Inter sale

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has not ruled out the possibility of selling the club one day, but says he still has plenty of ambitions to achieve before finding the right investor.

• Blog: Inter should be wary

Moratti bought the club in 1995 from Ernesto Pellegrini, following in the footsteps of his own father Angelo, who owned Inter from 1955 to 1968, during the side's 'golden age'.

Although the Nerazzurri owner has been looking for investors, he did state his main focus was on other matters concerning the club.

"Right now I am looking for minority shareholders that will help me to build our own stadium. Then, maybe, one day I could sell Inter," he told Tuttosport. "I won't exclude that, I have already thought about it. I will sell this club if the time is right."

With Moratti's family having owned or been directors at Inter for nearly half a century, the 67-year-old realises the importance of new faces and fresh ideas, but not at the cost of distancing the club from its fans.

"You need a change of faces and increase the need for new ideas," he said. "However, I think of the fans and the confidence they have in me. I would say that I will not let them down."

Since winning the treble in 2010, the club has seen a huge overhaul of players and backroom staff to cut down costs, with Moratti's new, more sustainable project starting to be implemented.

"Our rebuilding process got off to the wrong start but the situation got better and now we are well on our way," he said. "Spending because of other clubs' big purchases is no longer sustainable."

Next on the horizon for Moratti is to build Inter its own stadium and end the ground-share at the San Siro with rivals AC Milan.

"We will build a new stadium for Inter," he said. "A modern one that has to function well and also has to represent the style of this city. We have many projects on the table but obviously we need the laws to expedite these projects."
